London Super Comic Convention 2015

Today Lily, Dad and I went to our 4th annual London Super Comic Con at the Excel Centre. We always have a lot of fun when we go and in 2012 we were able to meet and interview Stan 'the man' Lee there.

This trip was very special as Lily and I both cosplayed. Lil went as Honey Lemon in her civilian outfit from Big Hero 6 which a lot of people recognised! I went as Gwen Stacy from Amazing Spider-Man #121. We both got our outfits from shops such as H&M and New Look while out shopping.

Some of my favourite photos;

Spider-Gwen, Civil War Spidey, Spidey and I.

We stopped by Midtown Comics stall who were giving out these great free Spider-Gwen comics and they also took my photo with their Spider-Gwen #1 cover!

We did a lot of shopping and we each picked up some great buys. Here is some of the stuff I really loved! :)

Harley Quinn sketch by Guillem March
  • Guillem March was the artist on DC's Gotham City Sirens which was a comic series I really enjoyed so I was very happy to pick up this sketch of Harley for a very good price.

Harley Quinn Roller Derby Funko POP! Vinyl
  • This Funko is in the style of the new 52 Harley Quinn. We only saw one of these at the con. :)

Amazing Spider-Man #31, First Appearance of Gwen Stacy
  • From 1965. We lost this issue at an auction once so it is great to have found it today!

Avengers vs X-Men Gwen Stacy Variant
  • 50 Years of Spider-Man

Savage Wolverine #6 J Scott Campbell Variant
  • I got this cover for Elektra and because it is by one of my favourite artists.

Avengers and the X-Men Axis #1 Mike Mayhew Variant
  • Polaris and Scarlet Witch. Once again drawn by one of my favourite artists who I spoke about in my Spider-Gwen #3 blog post.
  • Midtown Comics exclusive.

Spider-Gwen #3 Variants

After reading Spider-Gwen #1 I am even more happy to be collecting every single Spider-Gwen variant. I really enjoyed the first issue and can't wait for more! Due to the popularity of the book I am not surprised at how quickly Spider-Gwen #1 got a second printing.

Here are all the Spider-Gwen #3 covers I have found so far. I have pre-ordered the 1:25 variant but the image has not yet been released. As soon as it is I will add it to this blog post!

Spider-Gwen #3 will be released on the 1st April, 2015.

What the Duck?! Variant

Hastings Exclusive
  • Art by Mike McKone.
  • Available on Go Hastings.
  • Connects to Amazing Spider-Man #17.

 Comic Xposure Exclusive
  • Available to order straight from the Comic Xposure Website.
  • I recognised the cover art to be done by Mike Mayhew but in order to confirm this I tweeted him!

A little while ago now I also tweeted Mike Mayhew asking if he will do a variant for Spider-Gwen #1 and this was his response. :)

Mike Mayhew also did the cover and interior art to my favourite comic, X-Men Origins: Jean Grey and for my birthday I received a signed copy of the comic and a print from Mike who my Dad contacted. I was then also lucky enough to meet Mayhew at the London Film and Comic Con last year and he was one of the nicest creators I have ever met!

If I have missed a Spider-Gwen #3 variant, please comment below! :)

Hello Everyone,

Today we received our Reed Comics order and I had lots of Harley Quinn variants which I picked out from Previews! These Harley Quinn variants spread across a number of DC titles and were released to celebrate HQ month! There are a few more to come! :)

Harley Quinn has grown massively in popularity over the last few years, possibly because of her appearance in the hit Batman Arkham Games. However, I first found Harley while watching the Batman Adventure episodes on TV when I was a little girl. When I went to a comic shop and picked up a Harley Quinn doll the comic shop keeper said, "most girls like Barbie but Ellie likes Harley!" I have been a lifelong HQ fan now and it is great to see all of this Harley merchandise like her own series, her own variants and HQ related fashion in Hot Topic. I feel very lucky to be a lifelong Harley fan as Dad managed to buy a lot of her comics for me while they were cheap back in the day such as Batman Mad Love.
