Marvel Legends Spider-Gwen Action Figure Review

Hi Everyone,

Today I received the brand new Spider-Gwen action figure, ordered from Orbital Comics. The figure is from the Marvel Legends' Spider-Man Infinite Series 3 and is captioned 'Edge of Spider-Verse' on the box.

The Box - Back View
  • The back of the box features the other figures included in the series.
  • It also shows how to build the Absorbing Man.

The Packaging
  • When I took the figure out of the packaging I was really excited to see her.
  • The figure is very light to hold.
  • Unfortunately the joints of the figure are not flexible. I find it very hard to move her knees and her elbows.

The Costume - Front View
  • The design of the figure is spot on. The costume has been recreated perfectly!

The Costume with Wrecking Ball
  • As I do not wish to build the Absorbing Man, the wrecking ball is a bit of an awkward accessory to have. However, it can be quite fun if you wish to swing around Spider-Gwen.

Accessories
  • The accessories include a Gwen Stacy head and a lowered hood.

Gwen Stacy Head - Front and Back
  • I did not enjoy pulling off the head in order to replace it but it was quite easily done and definitely worth it. I think the Gwen Stacy head looks really cool!

On Display
  • Spider-Gwen does not come with a stand so it takes a bit of balance to display her.
  • I have matched her up with a Silver Age Gwen Stacy action figure and a previous Marvel Legends Spider-Man figure. Spidey is a lot taller than Spider-Gwen!

Overall, I really like the Spider-Gwen action figure! The costume is perfect and her accessories are very cool. The only thing that could possibly improve the figure is if she was a bit more flexible and if a stand was included.

Spider-Gwen is a hot new figure and this is making her quite expensive online!

Spider-Gwen's New First Appearance?

Hi Everyone,

Long time, no blog post.

This morning my Dad was shopping for some Spider-Gwen variants for my Christmas presents and he found an eBay seller listing Hawkeye vs. Deadpool #0 as Spider-Gwen's first appearance.

Now, most of us think that Spider-Gwen first appeared in Edge of Spider-Verse #2. However, Hawkeye vs. Deadpool #0 was released on 3rd September, 2014 and features a Spider-Gwen and lady Thor cameo. Spider-Gwen then fully appeared in the Edge of Spider-Verse #2 which was released on 17th September, 2014.

Pretty cool, right?

Gwen the Duck

Hi Everyone,

All I can say about this Howard the Duck #4 variant is hahahahahahaha! 😂

It has done the cover to Edge of Spider-Verse #2 proud!

The Howard the Duck #4 'Gwen the Duck' variant is part of a Marvel variant month where Gwen Stacy takes over the roles of many Marvel characters. For example, we have Iron Gwen, Gwoot and G.W.E.N.D.O.K. I'm not going to be collecting a lot of these covers just because they scare me. They're a little creepy but it shows Marvel has a wonderful sense of humour! However I will absolutely be picking up this one, it's just brilliant!

Howard the Duck #4 will be shipping on 24th June, 2015. The cover is by Jason Latour, writer of the Spider-Gwen series!

London Super Comic Convention 2015

Today Lily, Dad and I went to our 4th annual London Super Comic Con at the Excel Centre. We always have a lot of fun when we go and in 2012 we were able to meet and interview Stan 'the man' Lee there.

This trip was very special as Lily and I both cosplayed. Lil went as Honey Lemon in her civilian outfit from Big Hero 6 which a lot of people recognised! I went as Gwen Stacy from Amazing Spider-Man #121. We both got our outfits from shops such as H&M and New Look while out shopping.

Some of my favourite photos;

Lil and I with the Marvel stand ups.

Spider-Gwen, Civil War Spidey, Spidey and I.

Spidey and I.

Dad, Lily and I.

We stopped by Midtown Comics stall who were giving out these great free Spider-Gwen comics and they also took my photo with their Spider-Gwen #1 cover!

We did a lot of shopping and we each picked up some great buys. Here is some of the stuff I really loved! :)

Harley Quinn sketch by Guillem March
  • Guillem March was the artist on DC's Gotham City Sirens which was a comic series I really enjoyed so I was very happy to pick up this sketch of Harley for a very good price.

Harley Quinn Roller Derby Funko POP! Vinyl
  • This Funko is in the style of the new 52 Harley Quinn. We only saw one of these at the con. :)

Amazing Spider-Man #31, First Appearance of Gwen Stacy
  • From 1965. We lost this issue at an auction once so it is great to have found it today!

Avengers vs X-Men Gwen Stacy Variant
  • 50 Years of Spider-Man

Savage Wolverine #6 J Scott Campbell Variant
  • I got this cover for Elektra and because it is by one of my favourite artists.

Avengers and the X-Men Axis #1 Mike Mayhew Variant
  • Polaris and Scarlet Witch. Once again drawn by one of my favourite artists who I spoke about in my Spider-Gwen #3 blog post.
  • Midtown Comics exclusive.
